MEP Iuliu Winkler (RMDSZ, EPP) was reelected on Wednesday as Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA).
“Re-election as Vice-Chair of the International Trade Committee is an honor, but at the same time a great challenge for me. Global trade is going through a very volatile and unpredictable period. For this reason, INTA will play an extremely important role in EU decision-making”, stressed Iuliu Winkler at the end of the constituent meeting of the INTA Committee.
The RMDSZ MEP reiterated that the European Parliament and the EU as a whole need to ensure that globalization brings benefits to the citizens of all Member States. “We need to make sure that globalization brings benefits to everyone and that European industry, our economies in general, will receive adequate protection against unfair competition on international markets. I want to help promote the interests of SMEs, which have to make better use of the benefits of trade agreements that the EU concludes. Trade has to be a true source of new high added value jobs. Importantly, all these goals must also be met in Central and Eastern European states”, emphasized Winkler.
At Wednesday´s constitutive meeting, Bernd Lange (Germany, S&D) was reelected as INTA Chairman.
