MEP Iuliu Winkler (RMDSZ, EPP), Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA), met Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell in Brussels on Wednesday.
“I had an excellent meeting with the Australian Minister for Trade and Tourism, Don Farrell, at the European Parliament. We discussed the EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement, the negotiation of which is nearing completion, and the need for more cooperation between democratic countries to respond effectively and decisively to today’s challenges”, said MEP Iuliu Winkler at the end of the meeting.
The INTA Vice-President assured Minister Farrell of full support in the European Parliament for the Free Trade Agreement, but also for increased cooperation on renewable energy and critical raw materials.
“We had a real ‘Australian week’ which included the EU-Australia Inter-Parliamentary Meeting (IPM), as well as a discussion with the EABC (European Australian Business Council) delegation led by Mr. Simon Crean. Geographical distance is no longer an obstacle today when our goal is to reshape globalisation in the interests of people and communities driven by sustainable economic growth”, highlighted the RMDSZ MEP
